When looking for effective solutions to reduce energy costs for buildings, having good quality window seals to protect your windows is a must. Window seals are used in both residential and commercial settings to create controlled environments inside of buildings to moderate temperature fluctuations and to prevent water and air intrusion indoors. Seals also provide the benefit of preventing fungi, mold and even harsh chemicals from damaging thin window panels. These seals can come in a wide range of sizes and shapes and material depending upon the application.
We manufacture our custom window seals from long lasting and supple materials including EPDM, Santoprene and Neoprene to achieve the best results.
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a high density type of synthetic rubber that is commonly used in outdoor applications such as the semi truck industries due to its resilience against extreme weather and temperature fluctuations which is a necessity for vehicles that spend long periods of time on the road.
Santoprene is a type of thermoplastic rubber that is manufactured to offer chemical resistance equivalent to neoprene. Another advantage that Santoprene has over EPDM is that it is easier to produce and is lighter. However, Santoprene doesn’t have as high of resistance to heat as EPDM.
Neoprene, another type of synthetic rubber, is a stellar option as an thermal insulator, and is a relatively flexible option for several applications including doors and windows of various sizes. Although Neoprene is more resilient when it comes to oils, chemicals and solvents it does not have as high of a tolerance to UV Ray exposure as EPDM or Santoprene.
